"The Time of the Deepest Night (When the Birds Don't Sing)" W/Elsa Salonen.
"This miniature forest includes a modified turntable, which sets the a pace
for the slow rotation of the forest’s main tree, working as some kind of
tree-dial. The title of the work, ‘The Time of the Deepest Night (When the
Birds Don’t Sing)’, derives from the Gottlund’s chronology, an era before
the clocks. The misty piano track, composed by Cavaliere, accompanies
the slow hours’ gait in the forest. The tree piles up the woollen fruits of the
wood in a constantly transforming sculpture. While the animals are asleep,
time continues its slow course. At dawn, the remaining proof of this is
collected on the branches. The unavoidable gait of time sets the pace to
everything, its gentle proof of strenght being a testimonial to life." (Elsa Salonen)
